Neoka's Song

When everything is in harmony, there is no chaos. When the world chants, we listen. When the birds sing, spring rises. When the winds blow, we feel the rhythm move us... Life is a song, and I intend to share it with you.

Visit to Lahore

My trip to Lahore was magical in many ways,
from meeting strangers on the train, to meeting great, warm and welcoming people.

19 hours each way on a train sounds boring, but in fact its a great experience!
i met different families, kids, people our age.

Kids are kids, really. These kids happen to be from a wealthy family, the boys spoke a perfect english, one wanted to be a doctor, like his dad, the other wanted to be in the army, like his uncle. The army is really a prestigeous service here, many perks for being involved.

Anyways, now I am back in Karachi and it feels like home.

Lahore is HOT

This place is great, its got it all ;)
great sights, great people, great atmosphere, great campus.
;)

sad that im only here for a few days. but heres a brief recap

I arrived on a train.. 19hours, but we had A/C!! MashAllah.

I decided to make some friends, so I ended up speaking to some kids about video games and stuff, and then met some other guys that were working on bridge surveying. Very nice guys!
They taught me some more Urdu, told me stories about the time of Akhbar and the Moghuls, we shared jokes, and i even played peek-a-boo with a little girl.

It was a great experience, because up until this point, i havn't really spoken or held a conversation with anyone outside of AIESEC.

Then arriving in Lahore, we literally smeltered in the heat, all the way to LUMS campus, where we washed our clothes in actual washing machines!!!

We then did a campus tour, I saw the Stareway to Heaven, and various other key locations with great views ;)

then that night I met with various members, and then went to eat with 2 UK Interns living in India who were here visiting. They had VERY interesting experiences with NGOs in India...

the next day I went on 4 external meetings, and then prepared and delivered a training session for the members. After we ate at a great local resturant and I had the best daal ive tasted yet!
Then we went to watch teh semi final Match between Portugal and France, sitting in a smokey room with like 10 guys watching the game.. was great other than the power going out twice, but luckily nothign big happened in the interim.

The nights were the greatest.. i got to sleep in a real bed, with A/C! I was actually under the covers this time! haha

Today is reflection, a few other meetings, and then the 19 hour train ride home :)
maybe ill make some more friends this time :)

Pics are in demand, and they will be up soon, PROMISE! :)
