Neoka's Song

When everything is in harmony, there is no chaos. When the world chants, we listen. When the birds sing, spring rises. When the winds blow, we feel the rhythm move us... Life is a song, and I intend to share it with you.

Visit to Lahore

My trip to Lahore was magical in many ways,
from meeting strangers on the train, to meeting great, warm and welcoming people.

19 hours each way on a train sounds boring, but in fact its a great experience!
i met different families, kids, people our age.

Kids are kids, really. These kids happen to be from a wealthy family, the boys spoke a perfect english, one wanted to be a doctor, like his dad, the other wanted to be in the army, like his uncle. The army is really a prestigeous service here, many perks for being involved.

Anyways, now I am back in Karachi and it feels like home.

Hmm.

I decided to drop by NNO to see what my crazy pal Kurt is up to. Backpacking in Lahore, I see. Sprawled out with fifty tons of colourful baggage in the street, posing for a photo op at a train station. Wondering why oh why it could be that he's being treated like a 'Gora'.

What on Earth is up with that 'Voice of Karachi'? Between the audio static, the sudden cuts, and your cryptic references to 'no animals were harmed'' (were there even animals in that clip?), I... well. I'm just not as panconnected as you. :P

Also couldn't figure out what the Canada Day photo is about. I'm sure it was a blast for the multitudes over there that surely know about and celebrate it (i.e. all four of you). Actually, my sister, who recently returned from China, tells a cute story about a young Chinese girl who asked her about the flag when it was brought out for Canada Day. The girl wanted to know why the hand was so badly drawn and only had three fingers. My guess is, some of your new neighbours were wondering the same thing. The conversation in the room below yours going something like:

"Some guys are up on the roof, blaring their sound system, getting drunk, waving around what looks like a picture of a swollen hand."
"Yeah."
"Shouldn't we go up and help them? I mean--what if they're mentally ill?"
"That's Archer's place, remember. The guy that invited himself in and wouldn't stop talking about that 19-hour train ride he was looking forward to?"
"Right."
"Right."
"Anyway, the secretary says to me, she says--"

Not much to report back in Calgary. Weather is pleasurably warm (not 'smelteringly' warm as so aptly described by you). Apparently the city has now surpassed Vancouver as the Canadian city with the third largest number of corporate headquarters (only two-thirds of which are energy sector, the aldermen have been eager to point out). Michael Moore is on the next flight out. So far, it's just been Gore and Klien exchanging choice words about the oil sands projects.

I should mention that a friend of mine at the U of T recently finished a project relating to the first functional ornithopter (flapping-wing aircraft) ever built. Check out ornithopter.ca for some videos of the first successful test flight (about 30 seconds of sustained flight). My life isn't as exciting as power outages, 19-hour train rides, the discovery of washing machines, and staticky radio clips--pretty sad when you think about it. Thesis is almost done, though. Then I'm free!

Stay panconnected. Embrace panality. And unify. ....

I'm no good at these Kurtisms.
