Neoka's Song

When everything is in harmony, there is no chaos. When the world chants, we listen. When the birds sing, spring rises. When the winds blow, we feel the rhythm move us... Life is a song, and I intend to share it with you.

We are what we learn

"We are what we learn" - Aisha Hogan, -Financial Consultant (TV Series Maxed Out)

I was listening to this segment on the news this morning about People in Financial crisis and this lady said something that I had known all along, but never connected. Poor financial management is a relfection of who we are as people. Our spending habits reflect our our projected self image. We need to feel confident on the outside if we dont feel confident on the inside...

I know all those self help mags have been telling ppl this.

But just think about it, as products of our own environment, we are constantly transformed, molded and shaped into who and what we are. Through education, however, the liberal arts, not just practical training seminars so we can fit the job markets demand, but real thought provoking education, we can master our own environments and choose which stimulants will shape us.

Yesturday was the first day of Black History month, and for the first time I am a part of it, learning, absorbing and internalizing what this month is all about.
It is not about remembering the opression or what the evil white man did. It remembers the struggle and the will to overcome the minds of all.

This Black History month is for everyone to take a step back, reflect about their own selves, their own struggles, and think about who we truly are.

"Live in the truth of who you are"
